  • I was encouraged after reading your blog. I was just diagnosed by my 2nd ENT as having Meniere’s (M) What scares me is that I also have many days where my good ear feels so clogged that I can barley hear. The last thing I want is to think I have M in both ears. I have had only two attacks of vertigo ….my issues are mostly hearing loss and fullness within the ear. I have a low ringing in my bad ear…it is very distracting.
I eat fairly well but plan to investigate more healthy eating.
    thanks young lady!

    • Hi Bryan! Thanks for the kind words… I’m happy I can provide some encouragement! I know exactly how you feel about possibly becoming bilateral. It really started to terrify me when my good ear started feeling clogged up like you mention. If you haven’t read the page on all natural solutions for meniere’s (http://www.cookingupclean.com/natural-solutions-menieres-disease/), definitely do so as you might find some great ideas that you haven’t tried yet that just might work for you. Aside from beginning with a healthy eating style which is the foundation of any healing, chiropractic treatment of the upper cervical vertebrae and allergy treatment were a HUGE godsend for me. Chiropractic gave me my life back… the misalignment was putting pressure on my balance and hearing nerves so correcting that along with a healing diet was my key to reversing many of my symptoms. I know others who have had similar misalignment except in their jaw (like TMJD style) that was the root cause of their meniere’s symptoms (these bones are also close to the ear nerves) so look into a consult with a chiropractor who does xrays and understands upper cervical misalignment and possibly a TMJD specialist. It could make a huge difference if these are found to be your root cause 🙂 Best of luck with your healing!!

  • Hi Kari, thanks for putting together such a great website, it’s so hard to find positive information about meniere’s out there! Similar to your story I’ve had meniere’s for a few years and my symptoms took on a new force during my pregnancy, not easy being a mum with meniere’s! I’m now just starting to look at dietary changes and allergies, I haven’t had a big problem with allergies in the past but I’ve noticed now I’m really sensitive to household products/beauty products etc so I’m looking at changing these. I just wondered what do you use for a moisteriser/shampoo/conditionner?
    Many thanks
    Anna

    • Hi Anna! I’m so glad you find my site helpful. I’m also really sensitive to certain products – mostly if they have drying chemicals or strong scents in them, perfumes make me dizzy for sure. I’ve been using the Acure, Jason and Shea Moisture brand at the moment. I also like Pacifica brand for my skin. I’m not into spending a ton of money so all of these are reasonably priced for all-natural, organic skin and hair products and I can get them at Target so they’re easy to find. I do also use organic coconut oil and shea butter as an easy moisturizer too. Good luck finding your triggers and managing your symptoms!

      • Hi Kari, thanks so much for your reply that’s really helpful. I’m also looking into supplementation and I wondered what brand you use? There are so many out there! I’m aware it should be a high quality natural brand but I’m unsure which to go for.. Thanks, Anna

        • Hi Anna, yes, def a high quality natural brand. I currently use the Alive multivitamin daily and I use the Now Foods brand most often for other individual supplements as I’ve had good luck with them and they’re not super expensive like some natural brands can be 🙂

  • Kari, Your website is awesome! I’m 52 years-old and have had MD symptoms for about 8 months, possibly triggered by peri-menopause. I am eating clean but your site encourages me to take it to a new level. I am now seeing an upper cervical chiropractor. My mis-alignment is, from what he said, worse than what he typically sees. I’ve had 3 adjustments so far, and I am wiped out! My brain is foggy and the ringing in my ear is even louder. Please tell me this is part of the process and things will get better! Well, just tell me the truth, whatever that is 🙂 Aligning the atlas to take pressure off the brain stem makes sense to me, so I’m going to follow this thing to the end. Thanks again.

    • Hi Molly! Thank you for your sweet comments 🙂 I had a very severe case of spinal alignment too and it took MONTHS to finally start seeing results so keep it up! Yes, getting a bit worse before it gets better is also very typically. My chiro explained it to me like this… our spine is like a roadmap with each landmark (alignment position) bringing about certain symptoms. When you begin the corrections, usually it’s correcting faster than how you got out of alignment so the symptoms may also be a bit more powerful as you pass back through all of those landmarks to be back home. I wish you the best!!! Good luck!
