Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 jalepeno or serrano peppers, seeded and diced
  • 1 cup squash or pumpkin puree
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 can red kidney beans or pinto beans
  • 2 cups low sodium beef stock
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 28 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2-3 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1½-2 teaspoons salt or smoked salt
  • 1 cup sliced okra (optional)
Instructions
  1. In a crockpot, place ground beef, onion and garlic.
  2. Stir together and cook on low 2 hours or until beef is cooked through.
  3. Smash cooked beef into small bits.
  4. Add all other ingredients to crock pot and stir.
  5. Cook on low for 3 hours up to 8 hours.
  6. Serve hot with your favorite chili toppings like cheese, guacamole and chips!
Notes
Alternately, you can brown the hamburger in a saucepot or frying pan. Combine all ingredients in saucepot and simmer on stove until hot and tasty.
